Hello Laurier Graduate Students!
The summer semester has been moving along at an unbelievable pace! I hope that you have all been able to find some time to relax between studying for tests and comps, completing coursework, conducting field research, writing major research paper’s, and working at your co-op placements! Being a Graduate student is not easy work, so if you have not managed to take some time for yourself yet, you should make sure that you plan something exciting or relaxing before the summer passes us all by!
For both our current and incoming students, one of the most important parts of your Graduate Student Experience is the Graduate & Professional Studies Symposium (GPSS). This two day event (Sept 2nd and 3rd) is an orientation that provides valuable networking opportunities, access to academic support services and resources, career and professional development opportunities, and many workshops taught by prominent Laurier faculty, students and staff. This event will provide you with the tools and resources that you will need in order to be a successful student, Teaching Assistant (TA), researcher and more! Visit our website - gpss.wlugsa.ca/ to register today!
As we move into August the GSA recognizes that it is time to begin to discuss how we will enhance the graduate student experience throughout the next school year. One important development that the GSA has recently finalized is the very first Graduate Student Exhibit to be held in the Laurier Library – Waterloo from September 22nd-October 31st. This exhibit marks the beginning of an ongoing story of graduate student research excellence at Laurier! The hope will be to work towards having different graduate student and faculty exhibits featured in the Library lobby year-round, to bring awareness to the amazing research efforts that exist at Laurier. These exhibits will offer all Laurier faculty, staff and students an opportunity to connect with different researchers and explore an interdisciplinary approach to cutting-edge research!
Remember, if you have not explored the GSA website to see all of the services and resources that are available to our graduate membership, then you should GO NOW - www.wlugsa.ca.
