F.A.Q. About GSA Structure, Fees, and Finances

How is my GSA contribution spent?
Each student’s GSA contribution goes to a variety of functions.  Primary areas of spending include: administration, coordination of services (such as health and dental plan, Canadian Federation of Students), GSA and grad student space, Orientation, special events, communications, campaigns and advocacy, awards, and bursaries.

How does the GSA maintain accountability?
The GSA has Board of Directors comprised of students from each department or program, with representation in proportion to the amount of students in that department or program. Monthly Board meetings are open to all GSA members, and agendas and minutes from Board of Directors meetings are available on the GSA website. All major decisions affecting the constitution or by-laws of the GSA are made at the Annual General Meeting, at which all members of the Association are eligible to vote.

F.A.Q. About Getting Involved with the GSA

Do you have to be a BoD member to join GSA Committees?
Any student can join a GSA standing committee.  If you are interested in becoming a member of a particular committee, either contact the Committee Chair directly, or contact the GSA Office and Services Administrator, Julie Ella Dubeau, who will forward your interest to the assigned committee chair.
