Events

One of the most valuable ways in which the Wilfrid Laurier University Graduate Students' Association hopes to contribute to the graduate student experience is through fostering a sense of community among graduate students, both within and across disciplines. The GSA hosts special events and series throughout the year, and collaborates with other departments on campus to deliver professional development opportunities specific to graduate students.

Planning an event you think graduate students will be interested in? Let us know about it using the Event Notification Form and we'll pass the info on. If you're a graduate student planning an event for graduate students, you can apply for funding under the GSA's Assistance for Academic Events or Assistance for Social Events.

The GSA stays in touch with graduate students in a variety of ways:

• We send out bi-weekly emails highlighting important or interesting events and opportunities around campus, such as professional development workshops, funding deadlines, and committee vacancies.
• We distribute information through our Board representatives, via email, word-of-mouth, and monthly events calendars and other posters in grad student workspaces.
• We have a Facebook Page and a Twitter account, which we use to communicate up-to-the-minute news about GSA services and events, as well as Laurier events, initiatives, and deadlines.
• We host a number of events aimed at communicating with and gathering feedback from our members, including regular free breakfasts.
• Monthly Board of Directors meetings are open to all members.
• The WLUGSA website has regular news and events updates, both of which are available as RSS feeds. (Subscribe to the News Feed here.)
