About

What is The Mini Market?

As a GSA led food security initiative, The Mini Market is a pay-what-you-can grocery store that stocks perishable and non-perishable foods, Heat & Eat prepared meals, as well as other essentials like hygiene products and household products. Laurier students pay what they can afford based on their budget, ranging from full price to no charge. Staff and faculty pay full-price for their items.

How does it work?

Anyone from the Laurier community is welcome to shop.

Laurier students pay what they can based on their financial capacity by showing their OneCard.

  • Full Price – for faculty and staff, or students who would like to make an additional contribution towards food security for their peers

  • 25% Off Student Price – for all students (undergrad and grad) who are in the financial position to afford food and other necessities

  • 50% Off Price – for students who need it

  • 100% Off Price – for students who need it

All proceeds go back into supporting food security for students at Laurier.

Students select the pricing model that best aligns with their financial situation on a screen presented to them at the checkout. No questions. No judgments.

Staff and faculty will have the option of an additional donation upon their full-price purchase.

Who is The Mini Market for?

This pay-what-you-can grocery store is for the entire Laurier community. If you’re a student who is struggling to afford food, we are here to support you. If you are a student that’s simply looking for a quick and convenient place to grab a few items, we’re here for you too! If you’re a staff or faculty member that ran out of milk, grab it at The Mini Market and help support student food security in the process.

Our Commitment:

We’re not shying away from the food security challenges our community faces. We’re meeting them head on and with an appetite to think outside the box. We’re committed to building a sustainable food support program that celebrates our diverse community by bringing us together through food.
